Exciting news for travelers! The Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation’s (MTDC) renowned luxury train, the Deccan Odyssey, is making a transition to operate with an electric engine. This forward-thinking move not only aims to reduce carbon footprint but also contributes to the bigger goal of achieving Net Zero Carbon Emission by 2030. After a pause of around four years due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the train was officially relaunched on September 21st.
Green initiatives for a sustainable journey
The MTDC is currently conducting a survey to assess the carbon footprint of the Deccan Odyssey, with the results expected to be available within a month. As part of its commitment to sustainability, the train’s authorities have already introduced induction stoves in the pantry car as a greener alternative to traditional LPG cylinders.
